BSNI is working with Newry and Mourne Council to recruit a temporary receptionist for their Banbridge Site.

Location:  Banbridge

Salary:  13.26

Duration: 30 weeks

Hours per week:  15 Thursday and Friday – 8.30am – 4.30pm

Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary

To provide a high level front line customer service to public and staff at the Council�s leisure
facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. To provide a full range of receptionist/telephonist services and control admission, ensuring
a high standard of customer service that meets the requirements of the QUEST quality
system.
2. To deal with customer complaints and difficult issues, resolving these where possible or
escalating them in accordance with agreed procedures.
3. To respond to the swimming pool panic alarm and liaise with the emergency services as
required.

4. To keep regular checks on security monitors and monitor the door alarm system.
5. To process cash, card and cheque transactions, maintain payment records and prepare
lodgements as required.
6. To implement the systems for bookings, membership, lodgements and petty cash floats.
To reconcile daily cash takings from all sources within the centre.
7. To be responsible for shop sales and sports equipment hire, assist with stock control and
order preparation.
8. To liaise with other staff on specific booking requirements and/or cancellations.
9. To assist in the promotion of the service through ensuring the display and upkeep of
promotional literature, price-lists, notice boards etc.
10. To provide a word-processing service including drafting and word processing letters.
11. To maintain computerised records as required using a range of Microsoft packages.
12. To undertake a range of clerical tasks including filing, faxing, photocopying, keeping
records of found property etc.
13. To process correspondence and complaints in accordance with the Council�s policies and
procedures.
14. To ensure that Corporate and Leisure policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
General
1. Carry out duties in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Order 1978 (as
amended); Acts of Parliament; Statutory Instruments and Regulations and other legal
requirements; and all Council Policies and Procedures including Dignity at Work, Health
and Safety, Attendance and all relevant Codes of Conduct.
2. Undertake the duties in such a way as to enhance and promote the positive reputation of
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.
3. Lead by example by behaving at all times in accordance with the Council�s values and
promote same within the organisation and externally.
4. Undertake all aspects of work respecting confidentiality and ensure that personal and/or
sensitive information under the control or access of the postholder is used, stored and
maintained in accordance with relevant data protection legislation.
5. Contribute to Corporate, Departmental and Regional working groups as required.
6. When required, assist in the execution of the Council�s Emergency and Business Continuity
Plans.
