Bluestones Staffing is partnering with Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council to hire a Cleansing Operative on a temporary ongoing basis for their environmental services team.
Hours: Full-time, between 6am – 5:30pm
Job Type: Temporary Ongoing via Agency
Rate of Pay: £12.59
Duration: until March 2025 (Subject to change)
Job Responsibilities:
- Carry out street cleaning duties, ensuring public areas are clean and free of litter.
- Work at the household recycling centre, assisting with waste management and ensuring materials are sorted and recycled properly.
- Operate cleaning equipment, including sweepers and other machinery, as required.
- Follow health and safety procedures while performing all tasks to ensure safety for both employees and the public.
- Respond to public enquiries regarding waste disposal and recycling.
- Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of public spaces, including parks, streets, and public pathways.
- Report any incidents of fly-tipping, graffiti, or other environmental issues to the relevant council department.
Essential Criteria:
- Previous experience in a cleaning or waste management role.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of health and safety practices related to waste management and street cleaning.
- Good communication skills and the ability to deal courteously with members of the public.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience operating cleaning or waste management equipment.
- Knowledge of recycling and environmental regulations.
