Bluestones Staffing are partnering with Belfast City Council to hire a Senior Operations Business Assistant on a temporary ongoing basis for a vacant post. This is a full-time role based full-time in office.
Hours: 37 hours per week
Job Type: Temporary Ongoing via Agency
Rate of Pay: £15.98 per hour

About the role…
The role requires the individual to report to the Waste Collection Manager and assist in the coordination of service delivery for Waste Collection, Transport, and Priority Waste management. The job involves managing communication network systems, supporting efficient service provision to domestic and commercial customers, and ensuring daily management and supervision of assigned staff and resources. The post-holder is responsible for performing duties within agreed timeframes and quality standards, and clerical tasks as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee and control communication systems within Refuse/Waste Collection services, including radio and telephones.
- Record messages and respond to operational inquiries from staff and the Cleansing Call Centre, relaying information to relevant managers.
- Coordinate communications with staff, passing on instructions and messages in a timely manner.
- Provide administrative support to various sections, such as typing, filing, and minute-taking.
- Update and maintain management information systems, including GPS, route optimization, and MIS, and produce reports as required.
- Offer technological expertise to ensure timely and accurate responses to stakeholders.
- Monitor and record fuel key or card usage and track fuel consumption within Cleansing Services.
- Control stock and goods required by different sections.
- Assist in preparing daily schedules and participate in route optimization processes.
- Act on instructions from Waste Collection, Transport, and Priority Waste management to coordinate tasks.
- Manage the complaints process, ensuring resolution in line with council procedures.
- Supervise administrative staff and oversee daily activities.
- Identify training and development needs through the PDP process and ensure staff understand procedures.
- Assist in implementing change programs for efficient resource deployment.
- Liaise with other council departments, the public, and external bodies for service coordination.
- Perform any additional duties as required.
Essential Criteria:
- Experience in managing communication systems and providing support for service delivery.
- Strong administrative skills, including typing, filing, and report generation.
- Proficiency in maintaining and updating management information systems.
- Technological expertise relevant to waste collection and transport services.
- Experience supervising staff and coordinating daily tasks.
- Ability to oversee stock control and manage resources efficiently.
- Strong communication skills for liaising with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of training and development planning.
- Ability to implement change programs effectively.
- Flexibility to undertake other relevant duties as required.
