Bluestones Staffing is working with Belfast City Council to recruit a dedicated and proactive Economic Development Assistant.

Hours: 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday

Job Type: Temporary ongoing via Agency

Rate of Pay: £17.60 per hour

Start Date: TBC, October 2024

The postholder will provide support to the Economic Development team, facilitating the delivery of key projects and events. This role involves assisting in project coordination, conducting research, and maintaining accurate records to meet Council and funder requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and coordination of economic development projects and events, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Assist with the preparation and management of funding claims, financial administration, and compliance monitoring for third-party organisations.
  • Conduct research on economic issues to inform project development and delivery.
  • Act as the first point of contact for enquiries, providing information and advice on economic development initiatives.
  • Maintain administrative systems, including databases and project files, to ensure records are up-to-date and accessible.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to support project delivery and ensure high service standards.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to promote projects and initiatives.
  • Undertake other duties as required to support the Economic Development team and Belfast City Council’s objectives.

Essential Criteria:

  • Must be a current Belfast City Council employee or agency assignee at the closing date of application.
  • At least one year’s relevant experience in two of the following areas: Assisting in the development and management of funded projects; Organising and managing events; Coordinating and promoting initiatives through social media and printed media.
  • Strong communication and customer care skills, with proficiency in IT systems.
  • Ability to analyse information, make decisions, and organise work efficiently.
  • Experience in working within teams, managing partnerships, and delivering projects.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Demonstrate relevant experience in all three areas listed above.
  • Two years’ relevant experience across all three areas.
  • Five GCSEs (Grades A-C), including English, or equivalent qualifications.
