BSNI is working with a leading manufacturing company to recruit a production operative for their quarry in Carryduff, this is an open air site, if you are looking to build a career with a company who has multiple sites throughout NI this could be the role for you.

 

Location:  Carryduff

Duration:  Permanent

Salary:       £13.00 per hour

Hours of work:  7am – 5pm Mon – Thur with over time available.

 

OBJECTIVE OF ROLE

To operate in a highly automated, leading-edge production facility to manufacture superior quality paving and walling products in a safe and efficient manner.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

Take personal responsibility for safety, ensuring that you go home safe every day while training to become a flexible operative across a range of workstations to produce paving and walling products to the highest quality standard.
Become proficient in all aspects of operations, learning to operate machinery and systems efficiently and safely.
Use and learn the tools of the Lean management system to drive continuous improvement in productivity while maintaining quality of output.
Support maintenance tasks during machine downtime, planned maintenance, and routine maintenance tasks.
Respond quickly to conditions that adversely impact operations through communication with the shift team leader and working to resolve issues.
Comply with AG Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Policies & Procedures, safe systems of work, and legislative requirements. Report improvements using AG’s Engage Software.
Ensure HSEQ risks are eliminated or controlled during all activities, completing production and pre-use HSEQ checks as required.
Ensure the product meets the required quality standard and maintain supporting records throughout the production process.
Maintain a clean and tidy work area, ensuring housekeeping is kept at the required high standard.
Perform any other duties commensurate with the role and within capabilities.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Operate machinery safely and efficiently, adhering to pre-defined permit to work systems, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements.
Check products for quality on the production line, removing defective items.
Conduct regular pre-production checks and maintain/upkeep machinery.
Report machinery faults to the Production Supervisor and maintenance staff.
Set up the production line and make periodic changes needed to manufacture different products.
Make minor adjustments to machine settings to improve quality and efficiency.
Operate mobile plant safely as required.
Provide production support to other factories/departments as required.
Keep the machines and work area clean and tidy during the shift, including washing, cleaning, and greasing.
Ensure machines are adequately supplied with raw materials, packaging materials, and cement in liaison with the Production Supervisor.
Act as an advocate for AG’s culture and values by demonstrating integrity, sustainability, customer care, wellbeing, and innovation in all aspects of your work and interactions with colleagues.
Adhere to all Company Health and Safety policies at all times, wearing the correct PPE while working in the plant and yard, and taking responsibility for personal safety and that of colleagues.

Essential Criteria:

Medically fit to undertake the physical requirements of the job.
Minimum of 6 GCSE’s Grade A-C
Adherence and appreciation for H&S and general housekeeping standards.
Ability to work quickly to meet production deadlines.
Experience of effective communication to team members.
Good observational skills to spot defective products
Reliable.
Works well on own initiative and as part of a team.
Patience to carry out repetitive tasks
Good time keeper.
Available to respond to production problems outside normal hours.
Flexible approach to work required, willingness to retrain and learn new skills.
Desirable Criteria:

Previous experience as a machine operator
