Bluestones Staffing is partnering with Belfast City Council to recruit a highly organized and proactive individual to join their team as a Safer Neighbourhood Officer. This is a full-time temporary post with the Council.

Hours: 9am to 5:30pm (flexible)
Job Type: Temporary ongoing via Agency
Rate of Pay: £14.44 per hour
Start Date: Monday 14th October 2024 (TBC)

The postholder will work as part of a team responsible for delivering a community safety neighbourhood service. This includes enforcement operations aimed at reducing antisocial behaviour, on-street drinking, and environmental crime, and supporting the Council’s Safer City priority.

Main Purpose of Job:

The postholder will work with the Anti-Social Behaviour Officer/Operations Coordinator, collaborating with local agencies and stakeholders to resolve community safety problems. The role involves conducting regular patrols, enforcing relevant legislation, and engaging with the community to create safer neighbourhoods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enforce relevant legislation to reduce antisocial behaviour, on-street drinking, and environmental crime.
  • Conduct regular patrols, identify community safety issues, and issue penalties or warnings.
  • Investigate complaints, gather evidence, and attend court or hearings as needed.
  • Work with local agencies to address issues such as dumping, graffiti, and vandalism.
  • Support community safety programs and attend relevant multi-agency meetings.
  • Engage with local representatives and organizations to resolve neighbourhood safety problems.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide reports for council and partner agencies.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and supervise staff where required.
  • All other duties as required by Belfast City Council.

Essential Criteria:

  • Full clean driving licence (or access to transport for job duties).
  • 1+ year’s work experience in community safety, development, relations, housing, crime reduction, or youth work.
  • Experience in the following areas: enforcement, community engagement, or interagency working.
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with the public.
  • Knowledge of community safety and crime reduction practices.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload effectively.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working with local community safety initiatives and multi-agency partnerships.
