Bluestones Staffing are partnering with Belfast City Council to hire a Marketing & Communication Coordinator on a temporary ongoing basis. This is a full-time position with an immediate start required upon selection.

Hours: 37 hours per week

Rate of Pay: £21.98 per hour

About the role…

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator (Campaigns, Press, and Social) supports Belfast City Council by providing expert advice on media and social activity. Reporting to the Campaigns Press and Social Manager, this role focuses on developing proactive marketing and communication plans, supporting strategic media programs, and advancing the council’s branding initiatives. It acts as an ambassador for the Belfast city brand framework and collaborates with partner organizations to integrate the city’s brand into various activities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality content for press articles, speeches, social media, and marketing materials, and handle press inquiries.
  • Develop and implement communication policies and support departmental media and community engagement, including organizing events such as news conferences.
  • Work with the marketing team to ensure consistent branding across campaigns, execute PR strategies to highlight Belfast’s achievements, and collaborate with council partners.
  • Assist in digital strategy implementation to improve service delivery to stakeholders and foster an open communications culture.
  • Attend council meetings, advise on media issues, manage media databases, and support an out-of-hours duty rota.

Essential Criteria:

  • A third-level qualification in communications, journalism, PR, or equivalent, or full membership in a relevant professional body, plus one year of experience in communications and media, or alternatively, two years’ experience in relevant areas.
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills, a solid understanding of media relations and social media, decision-making capabilities, effective organizational skills, and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Proven ability to manage relationships with the media, council members, and the public, with a commitment to high-quality service delivery and customer care.
